When Detlef Wittig replaced Vratislav Kulhánek in October 2004, it was not his first assignment in the top management of the Mladá Boleslav car manufacturer. From 1995 (until 2000) he worked in Mladá Boleslav as a member of the board of directors responsible for sales, finance and marketing. He was later also the chairman of the Škoda Auto supervisory board.
His managerial abilities, conduct and behaviour brought special prestige not only to the automaker, but also to the city and region. This is shown by the fact that this August he became the tenth honorary citizen of Mladá Boleslav since 1989. In this way the city showed its appreciation, in particular, for Detlef Wittig’s long-term contribution to the car manufacturer and the city.He was replaced as chairman of the Škoda Auto board of directors on 1 October 2007 by Reinhard Jung (56), who was previously a member of the board of directors of Volkswagen–cars for production and logistics.New chairman of the board of directors Reinhard Jung started work for the VW group as a project engineer after graduating in 1974 and went on to occupy various positions. Between 1996 and 2001 he headed a VW production plant in Braunschweig and before he was appointed member of the Volkswagen board of directors for production and logistics in 2004 he was president of VW de Mexico.
